Life Happens

Well, well, well, how amazing is it that we did not go to Ottawa! Why you ask? Because I got really sick, and boy I do not wish that kind of pain to anyone!

This all started when I had a glass of chocolate milk on Friday night. Then my temporary lactose intolerance kicked in. Yes temporary, because sometimes I get sick and sometimes I don't. This may be a new medical discovery, as I have never heard of anyone else with fluctuating intolerance. I woke up at 5 AM with bloating and cramps and pain. It settled down a bit and when BF came by at 7AM to pick me up, everything was much better. I told him about it and he decided that it was too risky to travel 2 hours if there was any chance I would be sick again. We decided to do a quick trip to the nephew, which is about 45 mins away, and things were good for about an hour, then Oh My God! The cramps really kicked in! Along with the cramps, I had bad nausea. All the way back home I was lying down in the car, with a lot of moaning and breathing exercises. Childbirth was way less painful.
We finally got home and I tried to take some Tums to help with the nausea, but that just sent me running to the bathroom gagging like mad.

The only thing that was helpful at this point, was to lie down, so we went up to bed and we lay there quietly where we both fell asleep. After about 3 hours of a lovely Saturday afternoon nap, we woke up refreshed (him), and pain free (me).

We got some coffee to wake up and I sent him off to pick up some ribs for supper. When he got back, we ate, and then watched Breakfast at Tiffany's, which I had never seen before. Great movie!! I just adore Audrey Hepburn.

After the movie, I got us a couple of Melon Martinis (I make great Martinis) and gave BF his present.
The reaction was .....speechless! Yes his eyes did bug out a bit.
What's this you say? What was his birthday gift? Well, something I knew he would love to have, because of everything he has ever said about ancient Egypt and the artifacts in the museums.
I bought him an authentic Egyptian Ushabti.
This one is dated between 600 to 30 BC and its a little bit of ancient Egypt that he now owns. He totally loved it!!! I think it has overwhelmed him a bit and I know it will take awhile for it all to sink in. We went to visit his mom and aunt today for cake and coffee, and he brought his "little green man" with him to show them. He looked very happy to be showing off his new "treasure".

So all in all not a bad weekend, and sometime soon, we will definitely be going to Ottawa to see the exhibit, and I also plan on taking my kids on a separate trip.

Hope you all have a great week!
